Snapshots

Take pictures of the world and save them to your computer, your inventory or your profile feed.

Open the snapshot window with World → Snapshot or Ctrl+Shift+S.

Taking a snapshot

  1. Frame your shot. The preview in the window updates when you click REFRESH (or by itself with Auto-refresh on).
  2. Choose where it goes:
    • Save to Disk: a picture file on your computer.
    • Save to Inventory: a texture in your inventory (costs a small upload fee).
    • Share to Profile Feed: posts it to your Second Life profile.
  3. Pick the size and options, then save.

Saving to your computer

  • Format: PNG (Lossless), JPEG (with a Quality slider) or BMP (Lossless).
  • The folder: shown under the format, with a button to choose another folder and one to open it. Until you pick one, it says "(will ask on first save)".
  • Save saves into that folder; Save As… lets you choose a name and place.

Bigger snapshots take longer to make.

360 snapshots

World → 360 snapshot (Ctrl+Alt+Shift+S) captures the whole scene around the camera, for 360° viewers and social media.

Tips

  • For the best pictures, use Photo Studio for colour and depth of field, World → Freeze World (Ctrl+Shift+F) to pause the moment, and the Poser to adjust poses.
  • Advanced → Quiet Snapshots to Disk saves to disk without the camera sound and snapshot animation.
