Crash reports¶
A crash we can reproduce, or a crash dump, is the fastest path to a fix.
Linux¶
Send ~/.slipstreamviewer/logs/Slipstream.log from the crashed session (plus Slipstream.old
if you already restarted).
Windows¶
Some crashes (heap corruption and similar) end the program without Slipstream getting a chance to write its own dump. Windows can save one for us:
-
Open PowerShell as Administrator and run:
$k='HKLM:\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\Windows Error Reporting\LocalDumps\SlipstreamViewer.exe'; New-Item -Path $k -Force | Out-Null; New-ItemProperty -Path $k -Name DumpFolder -PropertyType ExpandString -Value '%LOCALAPPDATA%\CrashDumps' -Force | Out-Null; New-ItemProperty -Path $k -Name DumpType -PropertyType DWord -Value 1 -Force | Out-Null; New-ItemProperty -Path $k -Name DumpCount -PropertyType DWord -Value 5 -Force | Out-Null; 'done' -
After the next crash, open
%LOCALAPPDATA%\CrashDumps(paste it into Explorer's address bar) and send the newestSlipstreamViewer.exe.*.dmp, together with%APPDATA%\SlipstreamViewer\logs\Slipstream.log.
If there's no dump, Event Viewer → Windows Logs → Application has an "Application Error" entry at the time of the crash; a screenshot of it helps too.
