Discord status

Slipstream can show on your Discord profile that you're in Second Life, the way games show what you're playing. You choose how much it shows: just that you're online, or also what you're doing, your avatar name and the region you're in, with an optional Teleport to me button for friends.

It is off until you turn it on.

Turning it on

  1. Make sure the Discord app is running on the same computer (the desktop app, not Discord in a web browser).
  2. Open Me → Preferences → Privacy → Discord.
  3. Tick Enable Discord status.

Your status appears once you've logged in to Second Life and disappears when you log out. Nothing is sent to Discord before you log in. Every option below applies straight away.

What each option shares

Option Default What others see on Discord
Enable Discord status Off That you're in Second Life, and for how long.
Show what I'm doing (standing, sitting, flying, away, busy) On "Standing", "Sitting", "Flying", "Away" or "Busy" (Do Not Disturb).
Show my avatar name Off Your avatar name, for example "Sitting as Jane Doe". Follows your display name / username settings.
Show region Off The region you're in, for example "In Ahern".
Show "Teleport to me" button Off A button that opens your location on the Second Life map, so friends can teleport to you. Needs Show region. Second Life main grid only.
Hide location in Moderate and Adult regions On While you're in a Moderate or Adult region, the region and the teleport button are hidden.

You won't see the button yourself

Discord doesn't show the Teleport to me button on your own profile, only to other people.

Privacy rules

  • Location (region and teleport button) is only shown if you turned on Show region. With Hide location in Moderate and Adult regions on (the default), it is only shown in General regions. Right after a login or teleport, before the region's rating is known, it stays hidden.
  • RLV: if an RLV restriction hides your location (for example in a roleplay that blocks the map), the region and button are hidden. If a restriction hides names, your avatar name is hidden too.
  • Slipstream only talks to the Discord app on your computer. It does not connect to Discord's servers itself, and it never sends anything about other people.

If it doesn't show up

  • Check Discord is running, and that sharing your activity is turned on in Discord's own settings (User Settings → Activity Privacy).
  • Start Discord before Slipstream, or give it a few seconds: Slipstream keeps trying to connect in the background.
  • On Linux, Slipstream finds Discord whether it is installed normally, as a Flatpak or as a Snap.
