Preferences: Chat¶
Me → Preferences → Chat has eight smaller tabs along the top. Some extras are explained in more detail on Chat extras.
General¶

The buttons at the bottom open Translation…, Auto-Replace… (words replaced as you type) and Spell Checking….
To pause all notifications for a while, use Communicate → Do Not Disturb.
Alerts¶
Keyword alerts highlight messages that mention words you care about (your name, nicknames, your shop's name):
- Enable keyword alerts, then type your Keywords (separated by commas).
- Look in nearby chat and/or Look in IMs and group chat.
- Check the sender's name too, Case-sensitive, Whole words only refine the matching.
- Show matching messages in this colour and Play a sound choose how you're alerted.
Radar reports in nearby chat: post a line in nearby chat when someone enters or leaves chat range.
Show the number of unread IMs in the window title: handy when Slipstream is in the background.
Chat Bar¶
Enter shortcuts (shout, whisper, OOC), OOC and MU* poses, the channel selector and the mouselook chat window. See Chat extras.
IM¶

Groups¶

| Disable all group chats | Group chat sessions are declined. You can still start one yourself. To silence one group, untick Receive group chat in its profile. |
| Disable a group's chat when I don't receive its notices | Ties group chat to the group's notice setting. |
| Report disabled group chats in nearby chat | A note in nearby chat when a group chat was declined. |
| Snoozed group chat stays quiet for (seconds) | How long Snooze (in a group conversation's right-click menu) silences it. Ask for the duration each time lets you pick each time. |
| Copy group notices into the group's chat | Keeps notices with the group's conversation. Include the sender and subject adds those. |
Commands¶
With Enable chat bar commands, typing these in nearby chat does something instead of sending a message. You can change each command word.

Reject¶
Automatic replies and filters for when you've switched on a reject mode in the Communicate menu:
- Replies sent when you're rejecting friendship requests or teleport offers.
- Don't reject teleport offers (and send response) from people on friends list.
- Reject all group invitations (silently, no notification).
- Reject Ad-Hoc (conferences): Off, Friends Only or All, and Report ignored conference chats.
Autoresponse¶
Automatic replies to IMs:
- The reply for Autorespond mode (everyone) and for AutoRespond to non-friends mode. Turn the modes on in the Communicate menu, or with the two checkboxes here.
- The reply while you're Away, and Send the away response to new instant messages and teleport offers while I'm away.
- Item sent with autoresponses: drag an item (copy and transfer) here to give it along with the reply.
- Show Auto-Response in my name tag while an autorespond mode is on.
Auto-replies respect your block list, friends-only settings and RLV restrictions.
