Preferences: Setup¶
Me → Preferences → Setup has network, web browser and proxy settings.
| Option | What it does |
|---|---|
| Maximum bandwidth | The most data per second Slipstream asks the region for (in kbps). Most connections are fine with the default; lower it if a slow or shared connection struggles. |
| Custom port / Port number | Use a fixed network port, for routers or firewalls that need one. Leave it off unless you know you need it. |
| Web | Where web links open: Use the default system browser for all links, Use the built-in browser for Second Life links only, or Use the built-in browser for all links. |
| Enable Javascript | Allows JavaScript in the built-in browser (profiles, search and many web pages need it). |
| Adjust proxy settings | Proxy settings for networks that require one. |
Software updates
The Software updates options on this tab come from the official viewer and don't do anything in Slipstream. Slipstream updates through your package manager or a new download; see Installing → Updating.
