Search, places and landmarks

Open Search with World → Search… or Ctrl+F. It has a tab for each kind of thing:

Tab What you can find
People Residents by name.
Groups Groups to join.
Places Places by name or keyword.
Land Land for sale, with Price < and Area > limits, a category (Auction, Mainland Sales, Estate Sales) and sorting by name, price, price per metre or area.
Events Events that are Ongoing and Upcoming or on a chosen date, by category (Live Music, Nightlife/Entertainment, Games/Contests and so on).
Classifieds Paid adverts.
AltaVista Second Life's web search page, with back, forward and reload buttons.

On the Places, Land and Events tabs, the three tick boxes choose which content ratings to include (General, Moderate, Adult). You'll only see what your account and I want to access content rated (Preferences → General) allow.

Click a result to see its details next to the list, with buttons to teleport, show it on the map, IM, join and so on.

Places and landmarks

A landmark is a saved location in your inventory that you can teleport back to.

  • World → Landmark This Place saves where you are as a landmark.
  • Me → Places… (Alt+L) lists your landmarks:
    • LANDMARKS: all your landmarks, in folders. Filter My Places finds one by name.
    • FAVORITES: your favourite landmarks (also shown on the login screen if you turn that on in Preferences → General).
    • VISITED: places you've been recently.
  • Select a place and click Teleport or Map. The gear and + buttons add landmarks and folders, sort, and remove.
  • World → Place profile shows details of the parcel you're on; World → About land has the full land settings (see Land, music and parcel media).
  • World → Destinations… suggests popular places to visit.

For a timeline of everywhere you've teleported to, see Teleport History.
