Preferences: General

Me → Preferences → General (or Ctrl+P) holds the basics: language, what content you see, name tags and how typing works.

Option	What it does
Language	The language of menus and windows. Languages other than English are marked Beta, because some text may still be in English. Needs a restart.
I want to access content rated	Which regions and search results you see: General only, General and Moderate, or General, Moderate, Adult. Your account's age and settings also limit this.
Show favorite locations on login screen	Lists your favourite landmarks as start locations on the login screen. Anyone using this computer can see them.
Name tags	The names floating over avatars' heads: Off, On, or Show briefly (they fade after a moment).
My name	Also show your own name tag.
Usernames	Show usernames (like bobsmith123) as well as display names.
Group titles	Show people's active group title (like "Officer").
Hide own group title	Hides your own group title, for you and everyone else.
Highlight friends	Shows your friends' name tags in a different colour.
View Display Names	Use display names in chat, IMs, name tags and so on. Off: show account names only.
Pressing letter keys	Starts local chat: typing a letter starts typing in nearby chat. Affects movement (i.e. WASD): letter keys move you, and you press Enter to chat.
Away timeout	How long you can be idle before you're shown as Away (or never).
Do Not Disturb response	The message people get when they IM you while you're in Do Not Disturb (Communicate → Do Not Disturb). You must be logged in to change it.
